London Poker Festival sets new records

Post by Bookmaker »

This week set a new record at the main event of the British and Irish Poker Tour (UKIPT), the biggest poker event in London to date. After three days of fighting, a total of 1,099 poker players competed in UKIPT, creating a total prize pool of £746,221, and the final tournament winner won £156,800.

At Day-1C we saw 491 poker players investing £770, but fewer than 100 players made it to Day-2. Two-time UKIPT champion Wojtek Barzantny became a chip leader after the completion of the Day-1C event with 275,900 chips, 60,000 more chips than his nearest competitor, Weideng Wang.

This isn't Barzantny's first performance on stage, beating Chris Moorman in a head-to-head win over £77,126 at the opening match of the mixed online and live UKIPT Online Championships in Bristol, and again a week later at the UKIPT Bristol Main Event with £90,400, becoming the only double winner in UKIPT history.

There are also several high-profile players in Day-1C: Marvin Rettenmaier (129,900), Juan Manuel Pastor (65,400), Olivier Busquet (45,900), and Liv Boeree (33,000). But players including Jake Cody, including Anton Wigg, Pierre Neuville, JP Kelly and Toby Lewis, failed to advance to the next round.

A total of 248 players currently enter Day-2 events, and Day-2 starts with a level 12 blind of 600/1,200. The current average chip is 65,500. The EPT London Main Event as part of the London Poker Festival will kick off on 3.10 and the winner of the main event will be born on Saturday 16 March.
