The NBC National Poker Heads-Up Championship game is on fire again

Post by Bookmaker »

The NBC National Poker Heads-Up Championship, which was cancelled in October 2011, will return in 2013, a year later. The NBC National Poker Heads-Up Championship will reappear at Caesars Palace and invitations have been sent. Caesars Palace has been the venue since 2006. It remains to be seen who will sponsor this year's event, with Godaddy among past sponsors and other patrons including WSOP.com.

According to sources from the producers, 64 players will be in a knockout format to fight in Nevada next January. The TV show will be two months late and will start airing in March for six weeks. After asking some professional poker players about the specific news, it was only learned that it is still going on and no more news has been released.

NBC canceled the iconic National Poker Heads-Up Championship in 2011, apparently because of the Black Friday events caused by PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker. After the announcement of the cancellation, some observers said, "This marks the end of an era where every poker operator has been involved in WSOP and NBC, but now is not the best time." With the market downturning, NBC may not be able to afford the high cost."

Apart from NBC's National Poker Heads-Up Championship, there are still no updates on other famous TV shows. These include GSN's High Roller Poker Show, NBC's Night Poker and FOX's Million Dollar Challenge. However, it is believed that with the legalization of the US market, the US online poker market will usher in a new round of development.
